About Reading LSCB

Reading Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how relevant agencies will cooperate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in its locality and for ensuring the effectiveness of agencies’ safeguarding activity.

The Local Authority and Reading LSCB partners have a statutory obligation to establish and support the operation of the LSCB.  Working Together to Safeguard Children (2015) provides guidance as to the role and responsibilities of LSCBs and the functions they undertake. This is available from http://www.workingtogetheronline.co.uk/chapters/chapter_three.html.

The Board has a particular focus on child protection and seeks to ensure all children and young people in Reading are protected from physical or mental injury or abuse, neglect, maltreatment, sexual abuse or exploitation or harm caused by witnessing violence or abuse.

Reading LSCB Learning and Improvement Framework

The Reading LSCB Learning and Improvement Framework (copy attached on the right) sets out the process for undertaking reviews of children’s circumstances so as to better understand both the strengths and areas for improvement in the delivery of frontline services to children and their families. Learning from such reviews will assist the Reading LSCB to develop and strengthen safeguarding practice and arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in Reading.
